The Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, together with the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, is hosting a four-day teacher training event specifically for 60 teachers of English at (secondary-level) vocational schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Our implementing partner for this program is American Councils for International Education.
This event will take place just outside Sarajevo on August 19-22, 2019 (with arrivals on 8/18 and departures on 8/23). Transportation, accommodations, meals, and materials will be provided for all participants. The content of this training will focus on honing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teaching skills, horizontal sharing of best practices, an emphasis on teaching critical thinking, and the establishment of a greater linkages between vocational school educators across the region.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, June 24 through this form.
The selection committee will give priority to educators working full-time in secondary-level vocational schools who have had limited international experiences, and who demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with other teachers and pass on what they gain from the training. Final participants will be informed of their selection on July 1.
